Home again

So, I got home from the hospital last night, and went and got my scripts. After an hour of walking and sitting (mostly sitting) I felt like I'd been forced to do all the situps I could do, plus ten more. Needless to say, I crashed and burned.

One of the people from work sent me a lovely floral arrangement here at home. I also even had people from work visit me in the hospital!! This company is a keeper, IMO.

If you wrote anything of interest on LJ or in my mail over the last three days, you can rest assured that I haven't seen it, and may miss it due to my enforced packet deprivation, and now limited endurance.

The uterus was, in fact, large. The doctor was astounded - took over 15 pieces to get it out. The ovaries were fine, so she left them. I'd told her that the thing was huge, and she'd doubted me. Knowing your own body well is amusing sometimes.

Nah, you didn't miss much. Livejournal is now in SanFran. I was made ruler of the universe but it got boring so I abdicated. Bush was caught humping a chimp, a gay chimp even, but Karl Rove waved his magic spin-wand and all the bad news went away. And The Aliens invaded Huddersfield, but pushed off back home once they got a good look at the place.

Fairly quiet really.

Glad to hear that you are home. Do take it easy. Don't be like your mom was and try to do too much too soon. Having to go back with a wound infection and spend even more time off is no fun. I'm glad that they left your ovaries. It means that you will have an easier time of menopause than having to go through it bang all at once right now as you heal. Your mom's was really light compared to most. A year of more migraines than usual, easily fixed with some good meds and not nearly so many hot flashes as her friends. Call your sister when you get chance. She wants to ask you about December plans in Grass Valley. Bill should be home by Thanksgiving, but doubt if Gma will be back to nursing home by then. Love you Kid! Lotsa hugs, but gentle ones.

Yay! Welcome home! I hope you see this more than a week from now after staying flat on your back in bed getting better. But since I expect datapard will be reading your e-mail to you . . . happy getting better, happy dreams, feel better soon, don't worry about feeling strong again, it will happen all the sooner.

And good riddance to the big ol' sac of gristle.

Hooray, you're home and already seem to be doing well. I hope this whole healing thing works out very nicely for you. Get better soon, dammit! (yeah, I'm sooo comforting..)

I have really annoying questions to ask that you so don't have to answer until you feel better (even if this means weeks! I can wait).

What does laparoscopic surgery feel like after everything has been done? And do you think it would feel the same (meaning the pain after surgery) around your upper abdomen the way it feels around your lower abdomen?

And if you have your ovaries..and not a uterus..and if you havent gone through menopause yet...how does the whole period thing work?

Annnd I am done with annoying questions. (^_^)

A little achy, crampy. Your abdomen feels a bit like you got punched. Good drugs (and an epidural, in my case) help.

The appendectomy hurt worse - probably because it was a bigger incision, and messier. That was right side, below the belly button, but only by an inch or so. That hurt for weeks after.

The whole thing depends on how much stuff got mashed around, and how big the incision is. Also, if you try to do too much too fast aftyerward, it hurts because of trying to use sliced and/or bruised muscles!

And if you have your ovaries..and not a uterus..and if you havent gone through menopause yet...how does the whole period thing work?

Supposedly, you get the hormone based PMS, but not the uterine bleeding and cramping while the uterus tries to turn itself inside out. I'm sure I'll have plenty TMI to post about it in a few months.
