Nattering

Well, it's been a somewhat productive day. I got the last Oracle SQL homework assignment done, including some stuff that I didn't have to do, but did because it's DBA stuff. I turned it in earlier, and then my roomie S did hers and got it in just under the wire.

Haven't heard from G about how N is doing at home so far. Also haven't gotten an update on roomie M and the heart surgery.

On the job front, I passed my card off on a possible perl hacker job: web, cgi, database, intranet, some change management. Here's hoping. The job boards have been a wasteland. The Brass Ring Career Fair was mostly chip/HW jobs, and 80% of the people there were H1b's. The companies that weren't hiring H1bs had no lines, the ones hiring high tech carpetbaggers had long lines. Nobody had basic sysadmin jobs.

I want this "recession" to end, but I fear it won't until Bush is no longer president.
