In 11 more states, voters chose to repress gay marriage, even though it harms no one and encourages commitment.

The popular vote for President seems to be going to a man:
1) who hates gays and "foreigners",
2) who hates a woman having the right to control her own body, or anything else for that matter,
3) who loves to execute people and mock them as he does so,
4) who wants everyone but his cronies to be low wage slaves and "grateful" for what little bone the corporates throw us,
5) who wants to prostitute our environment, including the very air we breathe, to corporate profits,
6) who is perfectly happy to let his corporate benefactors ship our livelihoods overseas while telling us we're "safe", just stupid,
7) who wants us to have to change our religion if we have trouble in our lives as part of any federal "help",
8) who wants to bankrupt the US government so it can be "drowned in a bathtub", just like Osama Bin Laden says he intends to,
9) who wants enforced "christian" prayer in schools and government meetings,
10) who insults our traditional allies regularly, then complains when they won't support his hairbrained schemes
11) who would rip up the bill of rights, except for maybe the second amendment, if he could, and has supported measures to gut the application of those rights in practice,
12) who complains about "activist judges", but appoints religious activists to the federal bench,
13) who loathes free speech if it isn't something he doesn't want to hear or let be heard,
14) who is perfectly willing to write discrimination into the constitution,
15) who has supported the gutting of our education system, under the guise of "saving" it, so that religious indoctrination instead of education becomes the order of the day,
16) who lets his corporate cronies profit obscenely from our misery, and wants health care only for those who can afford to buy it at inflated prices,
17) who would stifle innovation and cross fertilisation of ideas for the sake of short term profits and monopoly for corporate interests,
18) and who wants to tell everyone how to live, what to say, and what to worship.

I'm sure the list could be longer, but apparently the people of this country "like" strutting yammerheads who make them feel good even as he takes away their rights, as long as they think it will only happen to "the bad guys": foreigners, criminals, terrorists, welfare recipients, liberals, drug addicts, immigrants, feminists, gays, unwed mothers, adulterers, perverts, atheists, disabled, non-christians, and any other label that is not conservative, christian, corporate, white male approved.

The red states apparently like theocracy, for after all, who cares if they starve and freeze, as long as the "evil" and "amoral" world is crushed, and they have their guaranteed place in heaven.

Yet the people at risk for when the world gets sick of us, are in the blue states, on the coasts. Convenient, huh?

We have truly entered the crazy years.

Heil Bush

Couldn't have said it better myself. I am alternately wracked by despair and beserk rage, heartbroken and infuriated that they could get away with this sham.

Life is a Cabaret, old chum. :-/

The world has gone batshit insane, or at least our corner of it.

Overhead at school:
"They banned that gay marraige stuff. I'm so glad"
"Me too. That's just disgusting."

Made me feel real good all day long.

I hate people.

Don't forget the hatred of urbanity and the thinly rationalized racism that underlies contempt for the cities. The majority of urban voters were re-districted and vote-challenged out of their say in this election. They--we--are represented in the middle of the country as well as on the coasts. We are all over, just as much as the Christian extremists are. So we can't even secede.
