More Support for Life Long Learning

Keeping ageing brains on top form is one of several articles giving the results of a study on mental age before and after mental exercises.

The upshot: learning, decision making, visualization and problem solving help keep the mind in top shape. They also push "aerobic exercise", but every medical study does that, and it's benefits are probably due to the better turnover of the blood supply to the brain and the time to think while trudging on the treadmill. So yes, that book of crossword puzzles is an investment in the fight against senility.

This did not surprise me, because it confirms my own experiences and conclusions.

What have you learned this year?

You're not on dr_nebula's f-list and so far as I know don't read him, so here's a suggestion that you join snobss. Requires too much logic, let alone love of snark, for me.
