Why? Fees, fees, and more fees, plus low interest and asinine policies. They got a bailout, I just bailed.
I now have a credit union account, with online access and bill pay. I will save nearly $20 a month.
When I get a new job, my credit card will get moved to the credit union too, since Chase is being abusive to people. Even the highest credit union interest rate is 5% below Chase.
All I needed to qualify for my credit union account was to live in San Jose, CA.
If you are sick and tired of your bank treating you like an ATM to be squeezed when they can't avoid playing with high risk derivatives and junk paper, check out your local credit union.
They actually define "fiscal conservatism" better than any megabank mogul ever could.

I'm interested to know what local CU you joined and how you like them. I also tried Keypoint (formerly AEA) and kinda liked them, but they do have fees for using your overdraft-linked-to-other-account, the other CU (Digital) doesn't, as long as you set it up in advance, overdrafts are pulled from a savings or credit line at no charge.
I am also unhappy with Chase and will be closing them down soon, but so far haven't found another 1% cash back credit card that I like. I'll miss the Amazon rewards but I won't miss the spurious "security checks" (they found something like 5 different transactions "suspicious" in 2 days, shutting my account off and making me call in *each* time. *sigh*
We found one, small, credit union that was very nice but couldn't provide all of the services we needed, but they were available while we looked for something more useful. Which we did find, but I decided to keep a small savings account open there so that we had a reserve.
I love our credit union. I will never, if I can possibly manage it, deal with a bank again.
